FAQ
What is an IH (Induction Heating) rice/pressure cooker? How are they different to conventional pressure rice cookers?
IH rice/pressure cookers are also classified as pressure cookers. All pressure cookers basically build pressure inside the pot to cook food. This process enables the rice cooker to reach a higher boiling point than when it is at a standard pressure (1 atm/105 Pa->100 degrees celsius). Pressure cookers can reach 120 to 150 degrees celsius. IH rice/pressure cookers build more pressure, and thus have higher boiling point than a conventional pressure rice cooker. IH pressure cookers use induction heating technology (induction coils build electromagnetic induction to heat up the whole stainless steel inner pot), whereas conventional pressure cookers use a heating pan to heat up the inner pot.
3. What are the benefits of IH pressure cookers?
As explained in FAQ 2, the rice cookers can reach higher boiling points. Not only does it reach a higher boiling point, but it shortens the time of cooking. When food/grain is cooked at higher heat within a short time, the food becomes softer and tender. As the whole inner pot (bottom and sides) is heated up instead of only bottom of the the inner pot (conventional rice/pressure cookers use a heat pan on the bottom), the rice is more evenly cooked. This is what makes the Cuckoo very popular in international markets.

Quality product, yet confusing menu
Posted by Kevin on 1st Aug 2022
It took a while to work out how to cook normal white rice. It’s the ‘soft glutin’ menu item on the side. Note that it takes 54 minutes to cook normal rice. The product is very good quality.

Don’t know why the steam rice always burnt at the bottom
Posted by cinrosser@gmail.com on 21st Aug 2018
The steam rice always burnt at the bottom. Not sure why
-> CUCKOO ADMIN: Thanks for your review. There are various factors that might affect why the rice might burn at the bottom.
Generally speaking, the rice residuals needs to be rinsed properly before cooking. DHSR induction model heats up the surroundings (bottom & sides) of the pot & not only the bottom. However, the residuals sink on the bottom, so it is the residuals burning not the rice itself.
We recommend you to rinse the rice until the water becomes clear.
Other factors affecting the problem might be the function you used to cook rice. If you've used the "High Heating" function, you will find the scorched rice at the bottom for any grains. The function is designed to do so.
We recommend you to use the "Turbo" function which not only shortens the cooking time, but you will find the texture to be much more fluffier and harder than normal pressure cook or "Turbo function".
Also, depends on the types , quality of rice, level of water will affect why the rice burns at the bottom.
There is also a "my cook" mode setting which you can use to control the texture of rice. Please set them to "-3".
I am sure that if you change the factors mentioned above, you can definitely solve the your problem.

Expensive but worth it.

It got excellent reviews in USA, Korea and China and I bought on this basis but also because it has a pressure cooking function, so not just rice.Comes with 3 voice languages (English, Korean and Chinese) but the instruction manual is only in English and Korea but the controls are so simple and it talks to you so no problem. Very easy to set up initially or to change later.
So far excellent. Used the pressure cooker facility and not only does it warn you at the end, the steam is about to be released, it also plays the sound of a steam train. I nearly died laughing.
Thoroughly recommend it. -
Functional rice cooker

At first its a bit confusion especially for a first time Cuckoo user with many options and settings. Then once you get the settings going its quite a nice cooker to use.The rice come out more fragrant and taste nicer than your conventional rice cooker. Iam happy with this product so far.

Nothing better!

With such a versatile cooker it might be easy to press a wrong button, but not so with the CRP-DHSR0609F. I absolutely love the voice feedback feature. Even more importantly this machine makes the best rice I've ever tasted. I quickly learnt I have been "missing out" for year and years before buying my Cuckoo. Now I have a range of different rices in my home that the Cuckoo prepares so well, it takes the quality of my cooking to a new higher level.
It was a "leap of faith" to invest so many dollars in a rice cooker ~ but I'm so glad I did. -
