FAQ
What is an IH (Induction Heating) rice/pressure cooker? How are they different to conventional pressure rice cookers?
IH rice/pressure cookers are also classified as pressure cookers. All pressure cookers basically build pressure inside the pot to cook food. This process enables the rice cooker to reach a higher boiling point than when it is at a standard pressure (1 atm/105 Pa->100 degrees celsius). Pressure cookers can reach 120 to 150 degrees celsius. IH rice/pressure cookers build more pressure, and thus have higher boiling point than a conventional pressure rice cooker. IH pressure cookers use induction heating technology (induction coils build electromagnetic induction to heat up the whole stainless steel inner pot), whereas conventional pressure cookers use a heating pan to heat up the inner pot.
3. What are the benefits of IH pressure cookers?
As explained in FAQ 2, the rice cookers can reach higher boiling points. Not only does it reach a higher boiling point, but it shortens the time of cooking. When food/grain is cooked at higher heat within a short time, the food becomes softer and tender. As the whole inner pot (bottom and sides) is heated up instead of only bottom of the the inner pot (conventional rice/pressure cookers use a heat pan on the bottom), the rice is more evenly cooked. This is what makes the Cuckoo very popular in international markets.

Just received our new Cuckoo IH 10 Cup Pressure Cooker CRP-CHSS1009FN. Setting it up was ok, got the voice change to English after a little while and set clock.
Found the actual cooking set up is pretty easy but really only done one cook so far for glutinous rice. But what rice it was!!! Don't know how it does it but the rice is soooo much better. Lovely sticky rice, puffy and we didn't use it straight away but the rice left in the cooker over a couple of hours was still perfect.
Cleaning was a breeze, just a wipe with towel. Can't wait to try out some other functions and the overall quality of the construction is obvious, a very well made unit.
Looking forward to many years of use to come. -

Great rice cooker, makes great tasting rice! There are some simple oversight, such as cooking Thai jasmine rice is considered as "Glutinous" on the setting. The other is that there isn't a wake button, any touch can wake the unit, thus making it more difficult to teach an elderly person. One last thing, the touch functions, it can be of a little more sensitive, sometime I have to place the finger on a function for awhile before the function is recognised.
Other than those, this unit is impressive! TQ!
-> CUCKOO ADMIN: Thanks for your review. Unfortunately, there are many types of rice from all over the world. We had to categorise all types of "white" rice as glutinous rice.
The "AUTOMATIC POWER SAVE" function setting can be turned off easily, so that your rice cooker is a wake 24 hours. Press the "Mode" button 7 times to get into the "Automatic power save" settings. Press right arrow button ">" to set preferred time of setting. Press "Set" button to confirm. Default is set as 1 minute which means if the rice cooker is not cooking/warming or not used, then it goes into sleep mode to save power/energy.

1)Rice cooker box was strap with yellow strap and not placed in a carton box for freight. As a result, the straps cut into the Original Box
2)It would be nice that the rice cooker was set to English for Australia country. Mine was in Korean and had to figure out how to change to English.
3)Rice cooker has worked well so far.

After several days research and read reviews, finally I decided to get a 10cups IH Cuckoo rice cooker, the rice taste is so much better compare to my normal rice cooker. I definitely would recommend to rice lovers.
